Brigadier General Jack Wanky’s first month as chief of the Police Regional Office (PRO6) has seen the seizure of shabu valued at over P46 million.
From February 15 to March 15, PRO-6 units initiated 201 operations, resulting in the arrest of 259 individuals, including 52 high-value individuals (HVIs) and 207 street-level pushers.
Officers confiscated a total of 6.783 kilograms of shabu, with a standard drug price (SDP) totaling P46,126,168.
In Iloilo City alone, 36 operations accounted for a significant portion of the seizures, amounting to P23.617 million worth of shabu.
Iloilo province follows with seizures valued at P12.277 million; Negros Occidental, with the highest number of operations at 74, secured P6.11 million worth of shabu.
Bacolod City seized P2.32 million, while Antique and Capiz each confiscated P795,600; Guimaras Province, P180,200; and Aklan, P27,880.
Wanky highlighted the continuity of anti-drug operations.
“The records would show that we are conducting continuous operations and we will still do that.”
He acknowledged the financial and logistical support from higher headquarters in sustaining these efforts.
Despite the substantial drug haul, Wanky acknowledged mixed feelings, citing a persistent increase in drug circulation.
“It’s a bittersweet accomplishment. We have been continuously arresting suspects pero dumadami rin ang droga.”
He speculated that drug distributors might be diverting their activities to the provinces due to the intensified crackdown in Manila.
Wanky assured the public that “we would not waver on our campaign against illegal drugs,” reinforcing the commitment to the anti-drug efforts of the region’s law enforcement.
