OWWA-6 opens scholarship grants

Children or siblings of Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) are encouraged to avail the scholarship grants of the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) for academic year 2022-2023.

In a press release, OWWA Regional Welfare Office 6 will be accepting applications for scholarships namely Education for Development Scholarship Program (EDSP) and OFW Dependent Scholarship Program (ODSP).

Under EDSP, a financial assistance amounting to P60,000.00 is offered per school year to qualified dependents of active OWWA members who intend to enroll a four to five year baccalaureate course in any preferred colleges or universities.

Those who are eligible to apply should not be more than 30 years old and must possess at least 85% of general weighted average during the last school year.

ODSP, meanwhile, is a scholarship program that offers financial assistance amounting to P20,000.00 per school year to qualified dependents of active OWWA members whose monthly salary is not more than $600.00 USD.

Further, interested ODSP applicants should not be more than 21 years old for incoming freshmen and not more than 30 years old for second year to fifth year in college. They should have a passing general weighted average from the previous academic year.

The schedule for the submission of applications is on August 1 to 31, 2022 or until the slots have been filled in, according to OWWA 6.
