BACOLOD City – Police have no lead yet on the identities of the perpetrators who robbed the house of a former councilor of P869,500 worth of jewelry and cash in Barangay Cabahug, Cadiz City, Negros Occidental last Saturday.

Lieutenant Colonel Gil John Despi, city police chief, said the 59-year-old victim discovered the incident when they arrived home on April 1 after coming from a family gathering on March 31.

The robbers forcibly entered the house by detaching the jalousies of the back portion window.

The stolen items included watches worth P264,000, bracelets worth P160,000, other assorted jewelry worth P150,000, necklaces worth P270,000, a bag worth P9,500.00, passport, travel documents, assorted identification cards, a Visa credit card, passbook, a Seaman’s book, and P285,000 cash.

Despi said it’s possible that someone may have monitored that the house was empty last Friday.

Despi said there was no closed circuit television (CCTV) camera, thus it was difficult for them to get a lead on the robbers whom he believed are not from the said barangay.
