BACOLOD City – A man and his son were allegedly gunned down by their relatives at Barangay Bi-ao, Binalbagan, Negros Occidental Sunday after they were accused of “sorcery.”
The vicitims were Crisanto Espante Sr., 52; and his son, Crisanto Jr.
Police Major Fernando Somblingo Jr., town police chief, said that both victims were sitting on a rock while selling pork when the gunmen identified as Jomar Salvador, 25; a certain Negro Salvador, 22; a certain Junjie, and an unidentified man arrived and shot them.
The gunmen then fled towards the upper part of Kabankalan City.
Somblingo said the elder Espante succumbed to head and chest injuries while his son suffered five gunshot wounds on different parts of his body.
Police recovered from the scene four cartridges of .45-caliber ammunition.
Somblingo said that the two minor-sons of the elder Espante, who were a few meters away from them, witnessed the incident.
He said the families had a misunderstanding after the victims were previously accused of witchcraft that caused the death of one of the suspects’ father.
Somblingo said grudge may have triggered the incident.
