This has been the first time that Manny “Pacman” Pacquiao spoke about what’s really going on regarding his future in the sport of boxing.
After several months of speculation and mere assumptions as to who his next opponent will be, Pacquaio broke his silence and confirmed that his camp is already having negotiations with Mikey Garcia.
A former champion in four weight classes and a current top boxer in the welterweight division, Garcia’s name was floated two months ago but was immediately scrapped after Top Rank promotions head honcho Bob Arum revived the Pacquiao-Terence Crawford fight rumors.
However, Arum and Top Rank showed no progress in the mega-fight proposal after they failed to secure their main investor who they thought would fill in the asking money for both Pacquiao and Crawford.
Garcia’s name then immediately went back into the picture and is currently working to make the fight happen.
“The negotiations are ongoing. I will not go into details so that there will not be any problems,” Pacquiao said during an online press conference.
When asked about the initial date of the fight and the venue, Pacquiao only said: “That will be included in the announcement.”
