ROXAS CITY, Capiz – Members of the tri-media in Capiz called for a speedy resolution on the killing of their former colleague, Pilar, Capiz municipal administrator John Heredia.

Heredia was shot dead Sunday afternoon in the parking lot of Citi Hardware in Brgy. Lawaan here.

In an official statement shortly after their meeting Monday afternoon, the National Union of Journalist of the Philippines-Capiz Chapter and the newly organized Capiz Tri-Media Association condemned the brutal murder of Heredia, the founding chairman of NUJP-Capiz chapter.

Capiz journalists are hoping that the case will be solved as soon as possible.

Meanwhile, autopsy examination conducted by Lt. Col. Joe Martin Fuentes, medico legal of the Capiz Police Crime Laboratory, indicated that Heredia suffered six gunshot wounds on his head and neck.

The Roxas City Police Station and Capiz Police Provincial Office are still gathering evidence to pinpoint the gunmen in Heredia’s killing.

Lieutenant Colonel Ricardo Jomuad Jr., Roxas City police chief, said they were able to come up with two probable motives in the assassination.

“It could probably be work-related, as he was the municipal administrator of Pilar,” he said.

A special investigation task group (SITG) was created to focus on solving Heredia’s killing.
