One of the most celebrated rugby athletes in the Philippines will be hanging up his jersey after a stellar 10-year career with the Philippine Volcanoes.
National team staple Chris Everingham announced he will be opening a new chapter in his career and will have to leave the Philippines for Australia.
Everingham first wore his PH rugby jersey 11 years ago and was a fresh recruit out of Newcastle, New South Wales.
During his stint as a professional player with the PH Volcanoes, Everingham played a total of 17 international competitions for the national 7s program.
“Philippine Rugby has been one of the sporting vehicles that showed me the world. It gave me the great hero’s journey and crafted who I am. From player to coach to manager, it’s been a complete journey and for this, I am grateful,” Everingham said.
After his career as a player, Everingham became a professional expert in Nutrition and Personal Training that also earned him a spot as a member of the Philippine Rugby’s National Team Management Staff.
As a member of the management staff, Everingham became one of the team’s coaches in the Strength and Conditioning Program and performance preparation of the rugby athletes.
“Chris will officially leave our shores in mid-May, and we want to thank him for all his services and time for Philippine Rugby. He has been instrumental as part of our National Teams support staff, as well as a former national player. His contributions have helped shaped numerous accolades for the Volcanoes, he will surely be missed,” shared CEO of Philippine Rugby Jake Letts.
