The Philippine Postal Corporation has unveiled a new set of ASEAN Post commemorative stamps, featuring the iconic Manila Central Post Office Building, as part of the General ASEAN Post Office 2024 Joint Issue.
The 2024 ASEAN Post stamp highlights the Manila Central Post Office Building, a structure built in 1926 and regarded as one of Manila’s most recognizable landmarks.
This year’s theme focuses on the facades of the main post office buildings across the ASEAN region, symbolizing unity, integration, and cooperation among the ten ASEAN member states.
“Built in 1926, the Manila Central Post Office Building is one of the Philippine capital’s most recognizable landmarks. It is the beacon of hope to represent the country in the ASEAN region,” said Chairman and Postmaster General Mike F. Planas.
The release of these stamps aims to promote Philippine history and culture within the ASEAN community while fostering closer relations and cooperation among the member countries.
The initiative reflects a broader effort to strengthen the postal networks within ASEAN, a goal that has been significantly advanced through the ASEAN Postal Business Meeting over the past three decades.
