BACOLOD City – As they endure the heat of the sun on the road as one of the frontliners in the fight against the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19), the health of some policemen assigned in check-up points and border control points here are also at risk.

Because of this, Police Colonel Henry Biñas, director of the Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO), requested Police Major Nahum Salapante, head of health service of Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office (Nocppo), to check the health status of police officers.

Police Lieutenant Colonel Ariel Pico, BCPO public information officer, said that these personnel were deployed since March 8 even before the city was placed under the Enhanced Community Quarantine (ECQ).

Pico said that they want to check if some of them need to take a rest due to hypertension or other illness.

“We want to ensure that they are okay, despite their tiredness in their mandated task” he added.

He said that other law enforcers who augmented the police forces in the check-up points were also checked.

The Police Health Service also provided them with vitamins to boost their immune system, he added.

A total of 34 check-up and border control points were put up here to control the movement of people in 61 villages
