ROXAS CITY, Capiz – Police have persons of interest in the death of a couple who was shot by two unidentified suspects inside their house Sunday evening at Sitio Hacienda, Brgy. Sublangon in Pontevedra, Capiz.

Police Major Cyril Punzalan, Pontevedra police chief, said some concerned individuals pointed to the suspects behind the deaths of Reynaldo Delgado Jr. and his wife Fe.

Reynaldo died on the spot while Fe expired at the hospital.

“We are keeping confidential the names of the witnesses and the suspects so as not to preempt our investigation and the arrest of the suspects,” Punzalan said.

Investigation by Pontevedra Municipal Police Station said the suspects, who were both wearing bonnets, entered via the kitchen and first shot Reynaldo who was sitting on a chair after eating dinner.

The suspects, then turned on Fe who was cleaning the dishes.

Despite her gunshot wounds, Fe was able to get out of their house and seek help from their neighbor.

The husband suffered two fatal gunshot wounds while the wife had six gunshot wounds in different parts of her body. She died early Monday morning in a hospital here.

The 7-year-old child of the victim went out of the house and asked help from the neighbors who were about 50 meters away. The victims’ house is made of mixed materials, with the kitchen under construction.

Police recovered from the crime scene 6 empty shells of .45-caliber ammunition.

Fe was a native of Tigbauan, Iloilo province. The couple formerly resided in Panitan, Capiz before moving to Pontevedra in 2016.

It was also learned that Reynaldo Jr. and his father Reynaldo Sr. were also involved in a killing in Brgy. Tabuc Sur in Panitan town sometime in the 1990s and another incident in 2016 where his cousin got injured.

The police are still investigating if the incidents could be connected to the couple’s death.
