BACOLOD City – The Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) is probing the cause of a fire that destroyed a poultry farm at Sitio Balogo, Barangay Concepcion, Talisay City, Negros Occidental last Thursday.

According to Fire Officer 3 Ken Anthony Sandico, shift commander of Talisay City Fire Station, they received a fire call past 4 p.m.

Sandico said that the fire station in Barangay Granada here was the first to respond, considering the location of the place, which is situated on the boundary of Bacolod and Talisay.

Sandico said that the fire immediately spread to the other structures, which were mostly made of light materials.

“Dasig gin tupok kay damo trapal kag mga plastic,” he added.

Sandico said the farm was empty when the fire broke out, thus no livestock was harmed in the incident.

The fire left an estimated P3.5 million worth of damage. Workers of the farm were unharmed, according to Sandico.

Fortunately, the fire did not reach the adjacent poultry farm, he said.
