BACOLOD City – The Negros Press Club (NPC) thanked Senate Majority Leader Senator Juan Miguel Zubiri for the financial assistance he extended for the repair and repainting of its building.

NPC president Aquilino Ciocon said a resolution was unanimously passed by the officers appreciating the gesture of the Negrense senator after they sought his help.

He said the club received P200,000 of the P300,000 committed by the senator.

The repair work on the building has started.

Ciocon cited in the resolution that the NPC building was last renovated in 2003 or almost two decades ago.

He said the ceiling, flooring, as well as the water system need to be repaired.

The NPC building served as a “second home” to NPC members who are from the different media and online outfits in the city and the province of Negros Occidental.

It is also where the members hold their yearly membership assembly, socials, and other events like press conferences.

Ciocon also said the officers also passed a resolution expressing support and endorsing the re-election bid of Zubiri citing his exemplary performance in the Senate, being a champion and a defender of the sugar industry, which is the lifeblood of the province, as well as the various infrastructure projects he has undertaken nationwide that benefitted the Filipino people.
