Police Regional Office 6 (PRO-6) chief Brigadier General Rene Pamuspusan on Monday led the turnover of newly-acquired equipment and vehicles in a bid to further boost the operational capability of Western Visayas police personnel.
Pamuspusan said the logistical assistance is a manifestation of the government’s support to the country’s police force.
“These will be distributed to the different police units. These will be really helpful, as we further strengthen the operational readiness and capability of our different units,” he said.
The equipment included 600 units of Galil Ace 22N assault rifles that will boost the capabilities of Mobile Force units in the region.
The Regional Mobile Force Battalion, Aklan Provincial MFC, and Antique MFC will receive 70 rifles each.
On the other hand, 65 units are intended for the use of mobile companies in Capiz, Iloilo, Guimaras, Negros Occidental. Bacolod City, and Iloilo City.
PRO-6 also acquired 551 enhanced combat helmets (Level II). Again, the end-users would be the mobile force companies in the region.
Mobile force companies were also recipients of 28 Harris tactical VHF low band radios.
Pamuspusan said each radio unit costs P1.1 million.
Information Technology equipment was also provided to PRO-6.
The region’s police force also received two Toyota Hi-Ace vans and a Hino 500 utility truck.
The truck was a donation from a savings and loan association firm.
