No red carpet. No heavily decorated venue. No coiffed and made-up wives. No ostentatious party.

Far from the usual glitz and glamour, this year’s New Year’s Call hosted by Police Regional Office 6 (PRO-6) was austere and low-key.

It was held at the PRO-6 multi-purpose hall morning of January 11, 2020 with officers, including PRO-6 regional director Brigadier General Rolando Miranda, only wearing their PNP GOA (general office attire, bush coat) uniform.

The New Year’s Call is an age-old tradition in the uniformed services that allows subordinate leaders to show courtesy and loyalty to the commander.

The New Year’s Call is also an opportune time for the organization to renew its pledge of loyalty to the Flag and the duly constituted authorities at start of each year.

For this year, there was also fewer numbers of police officers who were made to participate in the New Year’s call.

The 46 callers are other members of the command group, the Regional Division Chiefs, special staff, Provincial and City Directors, Chiefs of the National Support Units (NSUs), the Regional Accountant, the Chief of the Non-Uniformed Personnel (NUP) Affairs Section and, the Regional Supply Accountable Officer.

In his speech, Miranda thanked all the PRO-personnel for all their accomplishments in 2020, as he vowed to deliver better public safety services to the people of Western Visayas.

“We will improve and do better in our accomplishments.” Miranda said.

He also assured to sustain PRO-6’s efforts in crime reduction, operations against illegal drugs, illegal gambling, and all forms of illegal activities.
