BACOLOD City – An official from Police Regional Office (PRO)-6 in Iloilo City talked to the personnel of Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office (Nocppo) here to check their morale and coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) response in the province.
Police Colonel Patrick Villacorte, deputy regional director for administration, visited Nocppo headquarters here yesterday after he graced an event at the Police Regional Training Center-6 in Barangay Mansilingan.
Police Major Edison Garcia, Nocppo’s public information officer, said Villacorte met Police Colonel Romy Palgue, Nocppo director, and talked about the implementation of plans and administrative support of the provincial police headquarters to COVID-19 operational task force.
Garcia said Nocppo has been active in their response against COVID-19, particularly in providing security to the Negrenses and ensuring that health protocols are being followed.
Villacorte reminded the police to be resilient amid the pandemic, and stressed that as frontliners, law enforcers should be strong enough, Garcia said.
Garcia said policemen were deployed in quarantine facilities to ensure the safety of returning Negrenses. There are also random checkpoint operations to keep track of persons and vehicles entering and exiting the province.
They also provided other assistance to those in need.
Garcia said Villacorte also checked the readiness of the police force in their tasking and reminded them to strictly observe the health protocols in case there will be COVID positive cases among their ranks.
Villacorte also lauded the efforts of Nocppo in various accomplishments in their anti-criminality campaign, Garcia said.
