PSA- Guimaras outstrips LFS Provincial Target with 109.90 pct

The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA)-Guimaras Provincial Statistical Office fruitfully exceeded the provincial target of 192 sample Households (HHs) for the October 2023 Round Labor Force Survey (LFS) with 109.90 percent accomplishments.

“The October LFS Round has a rider questionnaire on the 2023 Survey on Overseas Filipinos (SOF) and PhilSys, which started on October 09, until October 31, 2023”, Provincial Statistics Officer Nelida B. Losare said.

The 192 sample HHs were from the 12 Enumeration Areas (EAs) covering 12 barangays from the five municipalities: 12 HHs in Buenavista, 102 HHs in Jordan, 42 HHs in Nueva Valencia, 20 HHs in San Lorenzo, 16 HHs in Sibunag.

“The 12, 16, and 20 samples in the municipality of Buenavista, Sibunag, and San Lorenzo came from the barangays of New Poblacion, Millan, and Cabano, correspondingly with one (1) sample each for SOF rider”, Losare said.

Among the 102 samples in the Municipality of Jordan, eight (8) HHs came from Rizal, twenty-two (22) from Poblacion, twelve (12) from Balcon Melliza, twenty-four (24) from Sta. Teresa, sixteen (16) from Balcon Maravilla, and twenty (20) from Alaguisoc.

Rizal, Balcon Milleza, and Sta. Teresa has two (2) samples each for SOF while Poblacion has four (4).

Forty-two (42) HHs came from the Municipality of Nueva Valencia in the Barangays of Calaya, Igang, and Panobolon, with 14, 12, and 16 samples, respectively. Calaya and Panobolon have two (2) SOF respondents each, while one (1) in Igang.

“Overall, there were thirty-four (34) respondents enumerated for SOF rider among the 192 samples,” Losare said

Losare elaborated further that of the 192 samples, 20 HHs were recorded for replacements because the addressee could not be located or had permanently moved out from the housing unit, a vacant housing unit, and a single person occupying the housing unit that had passed away.

One replacement each recorded in the barangays of Rizal and Balcon Milleza in Jordan, and Igang in Nueva Valencia, two (2) each from Barangay New Poblacion in Buenavista, Poblacion in Jordan, Cabano in San Lorenzo, Calaya, and Panobolon in Nueva Valencia, three (3) from Sta. Teresa in Jordan and four (4) in the Barangay of Millan, Municipality of Sibunag.

The LFS is a nationwide quarterly survey of households conducted by the PSA to gather data on the demographic and socio-economic characteristics of the population and collection of data on labor and employment and to provide a quantitative framework for plans and policies affecting the labor market.

Likewise, the 2023 SOF is a nationwide survey that seeks to gather information on Filipino citizens who left for abroad during the last five years, while the PhilSys rider questions primarily aim at gathering feedbacks on the PhilID issuance and their experiences on the use of its PhilID, which targeted to estimate the number of Filipinos who have PhilIDs; to gather possible experiences and feedback of the household head or eligible respondent of the LFS on the use and authentication of their PhilID; and to determine the number of household heads or eligible respondent of the LFS who has used their PhilID for identity verification in eGov PH mobile application.

Moreover, PSO Losare is thankful to all the sample households for their support and cooperation by providing accurate and reliable data to the hired SRs of the PSA.

“All information collected by the hired Statistical Researchers from the sample households are kept strictly confidential and shall not be used for purposes of taxation, investigation or regulation as provided under Article 55 of Republic Act 10625, but will be used solely as a reference on the levels and trends of employment, unemployment, and underemployment of the province,” Losare said.
