In celebration of the 35th Civil Registration Month (CRM) with the theme “Building a Resilient, Agile, and Future-Fit Civil Registration and Vital Statistics System,” the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) Iloilo Provincial Statistical Office, in collaboration with the Association of Civil Registrars in Iloilo (ACRI), took a meaningful step toward environmental conservation by organizing a mangrove planting activity on Feb. 7, 2025.
A total of 120 mangrove seedlings were planted at the Leganes Integrated Katunggan Ecopark (LIKE) in Nabitasan, Leganes, Iloilo.
This initiative reinforces PSA Iloilo and ACRI’s commitment to environmental sustainability, community engagement, and corporate social responsibility. It also serves as a reminder that civil registration is not just about documenting lives but also about protecting the environment where those lives unfold.
PSA Iloilo extends its deepest gratitude to all local civil registrars, the local government unit of Leganes, and valued partners for their unwavering support in making the event a success.
Special appreciation is given to Wilson A. Batislaon, Leganes Municipal Environment and Natural Resources Officer and Presidential Lingkod Bayan awardee, for his invaluable contribution to environmental conservation.
Meanwhile, in Tigbauan, Iloilo, love and sustainability intertwined as 80 soon-to-wed couples participated in the “Tanum kag Magmuad 3” initiative, planting malunggay and lumina trees as part of their commitment to a greener future.
Organized by the Municipal Environment and Natural Resources Office of Tigbauan, in partnership with the local civil registry office, PSA, the Tigbauan local government unit, and the Philippine Coast Guard, this activity symbolized not just love and commitment but also responsibility toward environmental protection.
By incorporating sustainability into significant life milestones, these initiatives highlight the importance of responsible community participation and environmental stewardship. They serve as a reminder that civil registration, community engagement, and ecological responsibility go hand in hand.
As PSA Iloilo and its partners continue to champion civic and environmental responsibility, these initiatives are planting not just trees but also the seeds of a greener, more resilient future for generations to come.
