The Philippine Sports Commission (PSC) ordered for the total lockdown of their two major sports stadiums after one of their staff contracted COVID-19.

Both the Rizal Memorial Sports Complex and the PhilSports Complex were placed under complete lockdown until further notice.

“May we humbly advise all concerned that the Rizal Memorial Sports Complex in Manila City and the PhilSports Complex in Pasig City shall be on complete lockdown from 12 August 2020 until further notice,” PSC chairman Butch Ramirez said in a statement.

The venues are now subjected to total disinfection and no PSC employee can enter the premises of both main arenas until chairman Ramirez gives the go signal.

“This is part of the agency’s health security protocol after a staff tested COVID-19 positive in the recent round of RT-PCR testing,” added Ramirez.

During the initial outbreak of the virus and the enforcement of the enhanced community quarantine (ECQ), both sports arenas were converted as medical facilities to help decongest hospital numbers.
