150 Public Employment Service Office (PESO) Managers and Job Placement Officers attended the 2021 Public Employment Service Office Year End Performance Assessment (PESO-YEPA) held at J7 Plaza Hotel, Iloilo City recently.

The YEPA evaluated the Regional PESO performance during the pandemic, identified challenges and concerns of PESO in the implementation of Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) Programs in their respective local government units and discuss short-term and long-term solutions to issues and plans for 2022 to strengthen support to DOLE’s employment facilitation programs.

DOLE-6 Regional Director Atty. Sixto T. Rodriguez, Jr. recognized the years of PESOs commitment in the different local government units. “You are the vanguards of employment facilitation. Your involvement matters most to the lives of the jobless especially the poor.”

RD Rodriguez also sent a message of humility in the performance of duty as he wowed the participants when he led the singing of O Night Divine in his inspirational message.

“Fall on your knees,” he stressed. “Be humble on your accomplishments and whatever you have achieved in life; we must be thankful that despite of the challenges of the pandemic, we were able to perform our duties.”

Aside from assessment and evaluation, the Public Employment Service Office Managers also shared the challenges and issues encountered in their localities during the open forum which was attended by RD Rodriguez and OIC Asst. Regional Director Atty. Dax Villaruel.

Among the major issues raised were insufficient manpower and finances, non-prioritization of PESO in the plantilla, political interventions and the health and safety of the local heroes against all forms of harassments.

RD Rodriguez assured the PESO managers of his support, “As long as I am your Regional Director, I will address your concerns in my capacity.”
