Iloilo 4th district Rep. Braeden John “BJ” Biron increased his edge over his opponent in the mayoral race in Dumangas, Iloilo, according to a poll survey conducted on April 20-23, 2022 by Random Access Consultants Inc. (RACI).
The survey has a sample size of 900 respondents that were determined using the Multi-Stage Probability Sampling for its methodology
With a ± 3.3 percent margin of error, the survey covered 45 barangays and the respondents were residents who are at least 18 years old and are registered voters of Dumangas, Iloilo.
The data was collected using face-to-face interview.
The survey indicated that 76.2 percent of the 900 respondents (686 respondents) preferred BJ Biron as the next mayor of Dumangas against 23 percent (207) of his opponent Ian Dolutan.
The numbers showed that 8 in 10 likely voters prefer Biron while only 2 in 10 will go for Dolutan.
Comparing the April 20-23 survey with the Feb 20-23 and Mar 2-4 polling also by RACI, Biron’s vote percentage increased by 9.4 while Dolutan suffered a 7.3 percent drop.
In terms of range of percentage of votes, Biron is seen to capture 72.9 to 79.5 percent of the likely voters against Dolutan’s 19.7 to 26.3 percent.
By sex, BJ Biron was the choice of 336 of the 450 male respondents, or 74.7 percent, against Dolutan’s 111 or 24.7 percent. Biron is also the choice of 350 female respondents (77.8 percent) while Dolutan got 21.3 percent.
Rep. Biron also topped the survey by age group – 78.8 percent in 18-29 years old; 76.4 percent in 30-39 age group; 77.7 percent in 40-49 age group; and 71.8 in 50 years old and above. The numbers are also higher compared to the previous survey
Dolutan’s best polling among age groups was in the 50 and above bracket with 27.8 percent, a 7-point drop from the Feb 20-23 and Mar 2-4 polling at 34.8 percent.
EDUCATION AND SOCIO-ECONOMIC CLASS
Biron also upped his edge in terms of educational attainment – 69.7 percent among voters who reached elementary or graduated from elementary school (from 68.9 percent); 76.5 percent among high school/high school graduates/vocational (from 67.8 percent); and 77.2 percent among college level and college graduates (from 65.2 percent).
Dolutan’s best performance was among Elementary/ Elementary Graduates at 30.3 percent.
Rep. Biron also remains the preferred mayoral candidate of voters across all socio-economic status. He polled 69 percent in Class A, B, and C (upper to middle class), up by 7.8 point from 61.2 percent in the February-March polling; and 77.4 percent in Class D and E (lower class), up by 9.4 points from 68 percent in the previous survey.
