ROXAS CITY, Capiz – The city government here is currently distributing rice to residents affected by the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) pandemic.

Led by Mayor Ronnie Dadivas, the distribution kicked off at Brgy. Olotayan which coincided with the establishment of the Stella Maris’ “Bitoon sang Kadagatan” Mission Station with newly appointed Manila Archbishop Jose Cardinal Advincula Jr. as the main celebrant.

Also present were Vice Governor James Magbanua, board member Thea Faith Reyes and the mayor’s wife Joanne Dadivas.

The distribution benefited 331 island residents who also received food aid.

Dadivas said they aim to support families affected by COVID-19. It is also part of the Food Security Program of the city government.

Each resident will receive 10 kilos of rice every month or 120 kilos for the whole year.

“In this city, no one will die from hunger,” Dadivas said.
