Tennis legend Roger Federer is back in the grand slam stage after confirming his participation in this year’s 2021 French Open.

After missing action for almost a year and a half after undergoing two knee surgeries, the Swiss Maestro came back during the Qatar Open but eventually lost to Nikoloz Basilashvili in the tournament quarterfinals.

Despite the tennis star’s surprising exit, Federer showed flashes of his old self after putting on several baseline and serve-and-volley clinics in his elimination games in the tourney.

Federer then declined to join the Dubai tournament right after Qatar and said that he would like more time to condition himself and his knees.

Two months later, Federer shared that he is ready for a full-blast comeback and is hoping to perform a lot better than what he did in Qatar.

“Happy to let you know that I will play Geneva and Paris. Until then I will use the time to train. Can’t wait to play in Switzerland again,” Federer said.

The 20-time grand slam champion added that he is targeting another majestic run in the upcoming 2021 Wimbledon where he won the most titles he had in his professional career with eight.
