Roger Federer’s team confirmed that he will not join the prestigious Australian Open.

Tony Godsick, CEO and long-time representative of Federer’s management company TEAM8, said that the Swiss Maestro and his team collectively decided to skip the Australian Open because they think his conditioning is still not a hundred percent after his surgeries.

“Roger has decided not to play the 2021 Australian Open. He has made strong progress in the last couple of months with his knee and his fitness. However, after consultation with his team, he decided that the best decision for him in the long run is to return to competitive tennis after the Australian Open,” Godsick said.

Previously, Australian Open main organizer Craig Tiley disclosed that Federer confirmed his participation at Melbourne which was caused excitement to everyone in the tennis world.

“Every player including Roger, has made a commitment to travel to Melbourne to play,” Tiley shared a week ago.

Federer’s absence at Melbourne Park puts an end to his 21 consecutive appearances which included six championships hoisted and a legacy that will never be forgotten.
