BACOLOD CITY – The Rotary Club of Bacolod, in partnership with the Rotary Club of Jinju-jeil, conducted the turnover and acceptance ceremony for a Technical and Vocational (TechVoc) Skills Training program at Binobohan National High School in Barangay Binobohan, Guihulngan City, Negros Oriental, on January 15, 2025.
Leading the ceremony were Rotary Club of Bacolod President Marjorie Dino and Rotary Club of Jinju-jeil President Choi Jae-Hwa, alongside Past District Governor Jong Sun-Beak of Rotary International District 3590, Past District Governor and Rotary Foundation District 3850 Chair Ramon Cua Locsin, Past District Governors Lindon See Diet and Edgar Sy, and members of the Rotary Club of Bacolod.
The event was also attended by Binobohan NHS Principal Lily Celestine Bayawa, faculty, and students.
Notable guests included Congresswoman Josie Limkaichong of the 1st District, Negros Oriental; Guihulngan City Mayor Filomeno “Mikoy” Reyes; Vice Mayor Eunica Reyes; city councilors; and DepEd officials led by Schools Division Superintendent Dr. Orlando Cadano and OIC-Asst. Schools Division Superintendent Dr. Eduardo Lagos.
Barangay Binobohan officials, led by Barangay Captain Elmer Catong, were also present.
The project is funded under the Global Grant initiative (GG#2460964) through The Rotary Foundation and implemented in collaboration with the Rotary Clubs of Jinju-jeil, Rotary International District 3590, Republic of Korea.
The year-long training program is designed to equip junior and senior high school students with essential skills in welding technology, baking, and cooking, providing them with opportunities for small-scale enterprise and additional financial support.
The initiative is expected to stimulate local economic development by fostering entrepreneurship in baking, restaurants, and related businesses.
Additionally, welding trainees will have the chance to explore employment opportunities in the shipbuilding industry in Balamban, Cebu.
The TechVoc Skills Training program aligns with Rotary International’s focus on basic education and local economic development.
It is a continuing project of the Rotary Club of Bacolod, aimed at empowering students and supporting community growth.
