ROXAS CITY, Capiz – The Sanggunian Panlungsod (SP) here allocated PHP60-million for the purchase of COVID-19 vaccines that will be administered to 70% of residents.
Mayor Ronnie Dadivas said he is hoping that the national government will augment their vaccine funds.
The city has a total population of 172,000.
The mayor thanked the city council for approving the supplemental budget taken from the 2019 savings and 2020 surplus.
Dadivas said the priority in the vaccination are health workers, uniformed personnel, social workers, government and non-government frontliners, senior citizens and indigent population.
Dadivas clarified that the budget will also include the transportation, logistics, equipment, supplies and storage facility of the vaccines.
On the other hand, Capiz Governor Esteban Evan Nonoy Contreras said the province also has a budget for the vaccines.
The Provincial Board has allocated an initial PHP20-million budget for the COVID-19 response.
The governor said that the national government has pledged an additional PHP10-million for the vaccines.
