ROXAS City, Capiz – A private group donated distance learning gadgets to 200 schoolers from impoverished families here.
The donations were raised by the Roxas City United Movement through its project “Gadget para sa wala Budget” which initially aimed to provide 100 gadgets for poor students.
But the group overshot its target by another 100 gadgets because of the overwhelming response from various individuals.
The donations were coursed through the office of Mayor Ronnie Dadivas.
Program Advocate Miggy Dadivas said the online learning mode under the new normal has an impact on poor families and their students, thus the need to help them.
“Subong nga tion sang pandemya, dako nga palaligban para sa mga ginikanan kon paano makapadayon sa pagtuon ang ila kabataan sa New Normal bangud online na. May mga nadulaan sang trabaho, wala na halos ipakaon sa kabataan, ano pa ang ila ibakal sang gadget? Ini ang rason nga nadihon ini nga initiative,” according to Program Advocate Miggy Dadivas.
The group received and thoroughly validated 700 applications for the gadgets to ensure that deserving students will receive the donations.
The priority beneficiaries were high school and college students as elementary pupils use the Modular Distance Learning which does not require laptops, tablets, or phones.
The distribution began Monday and will run until Sunday.
“Daku guid ang amon pagpasalamat sa mga nag donate sang gadgets. With your donations, we are able to help secure the future of 200 Roxas City students,” Miggy Dadivas said.
