The Roxas City Engineers Office presented the design for the rehabilitation of the Teodoro Arcenas Trade Center (TATC) Main Building which the city government under Mayor Ronnie Dadivas plans to convert into a 2-storey mall market.
Dadivas said there is a need to rehabilitate and repair the 40-year-old public market.
He added that the building is running out of space and it needs full repairs instead of patchworks to maximize public funds.
“Ginakulang na ang espasyo sang TATC. Ipakay-o ta ini sang insakto bangud kwarta sang tawo ang guinagamit naton. Indi pwede nga tapal-tapal lang sa atop nga nakaandan nga himuon sang nagliligad nga mga tinuig,” Dadivas said.
The project will be implemented phase by phase starting with the fish section.
The CEO aims to start the rehabilitation in May 2021.
Dadivas said the local government has the capacity to construct a mall market that is beautiful, environment-friendly, and clean.
The budget for the project will come from the reserves funds, economic enterprise earnings, and allocation from the city’s 20% development fund.
