BACOLOD City – About P419,000 worth of suspected shabu was seized from six persons, including a minor, here and in Negros Occidental from October 14 to 15.

In San Carlos City, Richard Salazar, 27, of Barangay 6, and a 17-year-old girl were arrested in a police checkpoint in Barangay 2 last Friday.

Police Lieutenant Ruby Aurita, deputy police chief of San Carlos City Police Station, said Salazar and his minor-friend who were riding a motorcycle were about to be flagged down by policemen when they instead tried to escape.

However, an advance party of police officers from a distance sighted and cornered them which resulted in the recovery of about 40 grams of suspected shabu worth P272,000 and a .45 caliber pistol with magazine and three live ammunition from Salazar.

Aurita said the suspects came from the minor’s house and were supposed to go to Salazar’s residence when they were intercepted for violating the curfew.

Aurita said the suspects refused to tell the authorities the source of the contraband and to whom it was supposed to be distributed.

The minor is included in their drugs watchlist, while Salazar is said to be a newly identified drug personality.

Aurita said the minor was turned over to the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), while Salazar is detained at the police station.

Also, a man was arrested in a buy-bust in Talisay City last Thursday that led to the confiscation of P13,600 worth of suspected shabu.

Meanwhile, P133,400 worth of suspected shabu was also seized by personnel of Police Stations 5 and 6 from three individuals in separate drug bust operations in Barangays 1 and 30 here, respectively last Friday.
