Teen hangs self

A TEENAGE boy died of apparent suicide late afternoon of July 17, 2019 in Dumangas, Iloilo.

Nonoy (real name withheld), 17, tied a rope around his neck and latched it to the ceiling of their house at Barangay Sto. Rosario.

His sibling discovered his body around 5:40 p.m. of Wednesday.

He was rushed to Dumangas Rural Health Center but was declared dead on arrival.

Police Major Jogen Suegay, Dumangas police chief, said investigators found no signs of foul play in Nonoy’s death.

Undisclosed family problem allegedly triggered the boy to take his own life.

A suicide note for his parents was also found at the scene.

Addressing them as “Nanay” and “Tatay,” the boy wrote that he will go ahead citing that he’s already tired. He also asked for forgiveness for being a “worthless” son.

He also asked them to take care, as he wrote in bold that he loves them.

The boy also asked his parents to do everything for his brother Toto to get work on a ship.

He also discussed about his and Toto’s dream of a having a mini-sound system, which he hoped would be realized by his remaining siblings.

Recently, the Department of Health (DoH) has set up a hotline for those who are suffering from mental health problems, including those contemplating suicide.

The Health department and the National Center for Mental Health (NCMH) Crisis Hotline, 0917 899 8727 and 0989 8727, is open 24/7.
