BACOLOD City – Three village chiefs in this city were infected with the coronavirus disease 2019 or COVID -19.

In his Facebook page, Barangay Captain Rosinie Distrito of Brgy. Singcang said he and his wife tested positive for SARS-CoV-2, the virus which causes COVID-19.

Distrito assured his constituents that delivery of services will remain unhampered.

Distrito said he and his wife Jade decided to undergo COVID-19 tests after falling ill on Saturday. Their results came out Wednesday.

Distrito said they isolated themselves since Saturday from their four children and other family members for their safety.

He also said he has not contaminated the barangay hall and the barangay staff because they had been exercising precautionary measures before he was infected.

Earlier, Barangay Captains Ricky Mijares of Banago and Rodolfo Pico of Mansilingan and his son also tested positive for the virus.

Pico said eight members of their staff at the Mansilingan Barangay Hall underwent COVID-19 tests and are temporarily staying in the barangay gym pending the release of their results.

Pico said he had a sore throat, body pain, cough and had fever for one day so he underwent RT-PCR testing.
