Hospital gradually accepts admission for medical cases only

After closing its doors last week, Iloilo Doctor’s Hospital announced on Thursday that it will gradually accept admissions for medical cases only.

In a letter addressed to City Mayor Jerry Treñas, the management of Iloilo Doctor’s Hospital said it will start accepting patients but its other departments remain closed for admissions.

“We would like to inform you that we will be gradually accepting admissions today, August 20, 2020 for medical cases only,” Dr. Alejandro Emmanuel Y. Rivera president of Iloilo Doctor’s Hospital said.

Admissions to the Pediatrics, OB-Gyne and Surgery will still be deferred, Rivera added.

The hospital added that consultations in their emergency room and OPD service department remain unavailable.

“We will still defer admissions in the department of Pediatrics, OB-Gyne and Surgery and we still cannot accept any consultations in our emergency room and in our OPD service department,” Rivera said.

Meanwhile, the emergency room of the hospital will only be open for patients with carried written orders.

The hospital it is still currently monitoring their personnel and will resume admissions depending on the results of the real-time polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) test of their employees.

TELL THE TRUTH

Last week, Iloilo Doctor’s Hospital stopped admitting patients to conduct disinfection after two of its resident doctors tested positive for coronavirus disease (Covid-19).

The two doctors were exposed to patients who didn’t divulge that they were exposed to Covid-19 positive patients.

Authorities have appealed to the public to be honest and transparent with their medical and travel history amid the surge of Covid-19 cases in the region.

“To everyone who is being interviewed by our health workers, the best that you can do to help stop the spread of the virus is to tell the truth. Truth will help us save lives and will also help diagnose our case earlier,” Treñas said in a previous statement.

Meanwhile, City Covid-19 Team spokesman Jeck Conlu also encouraged the public to cooperate with the health authorities by being honest with their travel history and exposure.

“Ginareiterate ta gid nga they have to tell the truth para makapaaadvise kon kinahanglan magpatest kag para makita ta kon diin nga barangay ang infected,” he said.

As of Thursday, Iloilo City has recorded a total of 641 cumulative cases with 13 deaths, 114 recoveries, and 514 active cases. (ERS)
