The TNT Tropang Giga handed the NorthPort Batang Pier a demolition exhibition, 99-79, to cap off their PBA Governor’s Cup elimination campaign on a high note on September 22, 2024, at the SMART Araneta Coliseum.
Despite already being assured of a sure playoff spot even if they lose their game against NorthPort, the Tropang Giga used this final matchup to execute their plays for the upcoming import-lace conference playoff round.
Aside from that aspect, TNT also fielded an all-Filipino lineup that will help boost the confidence of their locals when the quarterfinals kick-off.
Veteran big man Poy Erram stole the spotlight for the Tropang Giga after pulling off a double-double performance of 17 points and 13 rebounds.
Without the presence of their reinforcement Rondae Hollis-Jefferson who was ruled out due to rest, Erram stepped up to the challenge and filled the void that the import left.
Erram not only excelled in the departments that he is known for but also dished out four assists, a block, and a steal.
After trailing by six points in the opening frame, the Tropang Giga banked on a momentum-shifting run midway through the second to snatch the advantage heading into the second half.
During that pivotal second-quarter run, TNT staged a 24-11 scoring disparity to take a seven-point cushion at the end of the first two quarters.
Unfortunately for NorthPort, they failed to sustain their momentum after that waxing-hot first quarter and crashed out in the second half, getting outscored, 56-43.
Rey Nambatac backstopped Erram with an all-around effort of 15 markers, 11 boards, four steals, and three dimes.
Veteran outside gunner RR Pogoy chipped in 14 markers built from three made three-pointers while bruising center Henry Galinato had 11 points and seven rebounds.
