BACOLOD CITY – Police arrested a 39-year-old farmer, tagged as the second Most Wanted Person (MWP) in Western Visayas, at Sitio Amihan, Barangay Celestino Villacin, Cadiz City, Negros Occidental, last Thursday.
Based on a report by the Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office (Nocppo), the suspect, a resident of Barangay Sewahon 1, Sagay City, was charged with multiple offenses.
Police served an arrest warrant with no bail recommended for five counts of statutory rape under Article 266-A, paragraph 1(D) of Republic Act (RA) 8353, also known as “The Anti-Rape Law of 1997,” as amended by RA 11648.
The suspect was also charged with seven counts of rape by sexual assault under Article 266-A, paragraph 2 of the Revised Penal Code, as amended by RA 8353, with a total bail of P70,000 for his provisional liberty.
Additionally, he faces charges for 11 counts of violation of Section 5(A)5 of RA 7610, or the “Special Protection of Children Against Abuse, Exploitation and Discrimination Act,” with a total bail of P110,000.
The arrest warrants were issued and signed by the Regional Trial Court (RTC) Branch 73 in Sagay City on July 18, 2024, according to the police.
