BACOLOD City – Police continue their aggressive war against illegal drugs as they recorded another accomplishment with the seizure of P1,088,000 worth of suspected shabu in a buy-bust operation in Barangay Rizal, San Carlos City, Negros Occidental last Monday.
Police Lieutenant Colonel Jesus Mesahon Jr., city police chief, identified the subject as Cesar Pasigay, 47, of the said village, who is said to be a high value individual and the No. 8 drug personality in the city.
Joint operatives of the Regional Drug Enforcement Unit (RDEU)-6 and San Carlos City Police Station in coordination with the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA)-6 conducted the operation against Pasigay, who allegedly yielded 160 grams of suspected shabu and the P90,000 marked money.
Mesahon said that Pasigay has been under monitoring for some time now after he was included in the police watchlist.
Mesahon said that Pasigay refused to tell the police the source of the contraband, but they suspect that it might have come from outside Negros Occidental or even outside Western Visayas since there has been no huge volume of illegal drugs in the city.
He said they are probing if the stash could be linked to the previous P10.2 million drug haul in the city on Jan. 12.
Pasigay, who will be charged for sale and illegal possession of dangerous drugs, has yet to be reached for comment.
The recent operation happened after PDEA-Negros Occidental recovered P20.4 million worth of shabu at the Bacolod Real Estate Development Corp. (Bredco) port here from two persons on board a Roll-on Roll-off (Roro) vessel from Dumangas port in Iloilo province last Monday.
Meanwhile, eight persons, including a male teenager were arrested in a drug bust at Purok Lampirong, Barangay 2 here last Monday.
Police confiscated from them three grams of suspected shabu worth P20,400, three improvised tooters, and the P500 marked money.
All suspects are detained at Police Station 2.
