BACOLOD City – Two persons died while two others were injured in a shooting incident at Purok BM, Barangay Taculing here on Saturday night.

Slain were Noel Canencia, 51, and Dean Mar Suspeñe, 20, while the wounded were Ranyel Canencia, 23, and Ronnie Cabatbat, 51.

Police Captain Elmer Bonilla, head of Police Station 6, said Noel passed by the store of Suspeñe, where the suspect identified as Thomas Lovino and Suspeñe’s father were drinking liquor.

Noel then went home, took a bolo, and went back to the store. Lovino also went home and took a firearm, Bonilla said.

Noel allegedly provoked Lovino, which resulted in a commotion.

Suspeñe and his father pacified them but Lovino, who was armed with a .45 caliber pistol shot Noel (at close range), hitting him on his body.

Suspeñe was also hit in the head while two others who were present in the area, were allegedly hit by a stray bullet during the commotion, Bonilla said. The two wounded victims suffered minor injuries.

Bonilla said Lovino fled after he apologized to Suspeñe’s father for killing his son.

Police are eyeing old grudges as motive for the incident.
