ROXAS CITY, CAPIZ—Two persons were killed while five others were injured when a tricycle accidentally crashed into a wing van Wednesday afternoon, Nov 3, 2021, at Sitio Sisi, Brgy. Maninang in Sapian, Capiz.
Bavcie Veloria and a minor were declared dead on arrival at Mambusao District Hospital.
The Sapian Municipal Police Station reported that tricycle driver Jorlan Veloria and seven passengers were on their way home to Brgy. Maninang when he lost control of the vehicle and veered towards the opposite lane.
The tricycle then slammed into the wing van driven by Virgilio Cabaluna, 34, of Codcod, San Carlos City, Negros Occidental.
Because of the strong impact, some of the tricycle passengers were pinned while others were thrown off the sidecar.
The injured passengers were Anna Liza Parohinog, Josyl Veloria, Aida Veloria, and two minors.
The wounded victims were taken to different hospitals here.
Police clarified that the tricycle driver was not drunk during the incident.
Meanwhile, the wing van driver voluntarily surrendered to the police.
The police said that the victims will no longer file charges against the driver after the owner promised to shoulder the medical and burial expenses of the victims.
