BACOLOD City – Mayor Neil Lizares of Talisay City, Negros Occidental said Tuesday that the two Locally Stranded Individuals who escaped from a quarantine facility should face sanctions.
The two were immediately apprehended by authorities.
“In these trying times, the solution to this pandemic lies within us. It always starts with us being responsible in our actions. I am happy that Talisaynons are being appreciative of the efforts of the government. But there are times when I can’t seem to be happy despite our progress because of the actions of some constituents,” Lizares said.
Two LSIs managed to escape from the Talisay City quarantine facility through the backwall.
“Despite being on strict quarantine, they violated protocols and evaded the police only because they wanted to buy alcoholic drinks. Sadly, it is clear that they did not think of the possibility of infecting other people (if they are Covid-19 positive),” Lizares said.
The mayor said that their actions speak of their being irresponsible. Fortunately, they were apprehended immediately, and the swab tests results of these two LSIs were negative.
Regardless, Lizares said their irresponsibility should not be justified nor tolerated.
“This must be meted with proper legal sanctions. The panic and worry that this incident brought should not be forgotten.”
