BACOLOD City – Charges for reckless imprudence resulting in multiple homicide were filed on Saturday against a 51-year-old truck driver who killed two motorcycle riders in a road accident in Barangay 21, Victorias City, Negros Occidental last Friday.

Police withheld the name of the truck driver.

Police Major Joy Ellaga, deputy chief of Victorias City Police Station, said the victims identified as Grace Telebrico, 23, of Barangay 10, and her back rider Julie Broce, 40, of Barangay 21, were on their way home when a tailing six-wheeler truck hit them.

Ellaga said that Telebrico, who was driving the motorcycle, was about to execute a turn when the incident happened.

The truck driver alleged that he did not notice them on the road.

Broce and her staff were declared dead in a hospital, according to the police.

Ellaga said the truck driver fled due to fear, but he later surrendered to Police Station 6 in Barangay Taculing.

His driven truck was found abandoned at the Victorias Milling Company (VMC) New Road, Barangay 13 on that same day, she added.

The truck driver is detained at the police station.
