No one survived after two persons shot and stabbed each other morning of Oct. 28, 2023 in La Paz, Iloilo City.
Police only identified the fatalities as alias Balwig and alias Jorge.
Lieutenant Greg Matutino, Iloilo City Police Station 2 chief, said Balwig confronted Jorge about the latter’s debt at Barangay Baldoza, La Paz.
The confrontation escalated until they challenged each other to a fight.
Jorge allegedly went home and took a firearm. At that time, Balwig was already armed with a knife.
When Jorge came back, they again argued.
At the height of their argument, Jorge shot Balwig several times.
The wounded Balwig was able to pull his knife and stabbed Jorge.
Both were rushed to the hospital but were declared dead on arrival.
Meanwhile, Matutino is not discounting the possibility that the incident happened because of a double cross in the illegal drug trade.
It was gathered that Balwig was imprisoned because of a drug-related offense in 2017.
On the other hand, Jorge was a Tokhang surrenderer.
