Two senior citizens finish high school in La Carlota

BACOLOD City – Two elderly women completed their highschool education through the Alternative Learning System (ALS) in La Carlota City, Negros Occidental last week.

Nenita Trenia, 88, of Barangay Haguimit, and Violeta Niña, 83, of Barangay Ara-al, received their diploma during the 11th Closing Exercise of ALS of the Division of La Carlota City held at the city’s gymnasium on August 25.

A total of 638 junior high school learners and 168 elementary learners have completed their primary and secondary education.

The senior citizens, who were both accompanied by their families, were awarded as the oldest ALS completers during the graduation rites.

In a post on the city’s public information office’s page, Trenia said that she was very happy to have such an achievement.

City Officials led by Mayor Rex Jalando-on, Dr. Ermi V. Miranda, officer-in-charge School Division Superintendent, and other guests also graced the occasion.
