Two teachers, five others fall in drug stings

Two persons were arrested in a buy-bust at Barangay Guinhalaran, Silay City, Negros Occidental Wednesday, which resulted in the recovery of P47,600 worth of suspected shabu.

BACOLOD City – Seven persons, including two teachers, were arrested in separate anti-illegal drugs operations in Negros Occidental from October 20 to 21.

In Himamaylan City, public school teacher Stephen Arricivita, 40, of Barangay 2, Kabankalan City, was apprehended in a buy-bust at Barangay Caradio-an yesterday.

Police tagged Arricivita as a “high value individual.

Recovered from Arricivita were 11 sachets of suspected shabu weighing 5.6 grams and valued at P95,000, the P500 marked money, an improvised tooter, lighter, and P290 cash.

In Silay City, Marilou Eslabon, 51; and Alfredo Rombo, 36, both residents of Barangay Guinhalaran were arrested in the said village on the same day after they allegedly yielded seven grams of suspected shabu worth P47,600, the P500 marked money, fake money used in the buy-bust, and P584 cash.

In Talisay City, John Paul Insular, 39, a Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) teacher of Barangay Zone 15; and Joenefer Juson, 36, of Barangay Zone 10 were collared at Barangay Zone 2 last Tuesday.

Authorities seized from them 22 sachets of suspected shabu weighing five grams and valued at P34,000, the P500 marked money, and P1,080 cash.

In Bago City, Ronel Himaya, 35; and Niel Reoyan, 35, both residents of Barangay Granada, Bacolod City were arrested in another drug bust at Barangay Poblacion last Tuesday.

Police confiscated from them six sachets of suspected shabu worth P6,800, the P500 marked money, and P6,187.
