THE Unity Dance (U-Dance) that officially opened the 50th Dinagsa Festival on January 12 was a “symbol of greatness” in Cadiz City, said Mayor Salvador Escalante, Jr.

To the tune of locally-produced music titled “Patik Sang Dinagsa”, thousands of Cadiznons – young and old – danced in unison on the streets, signalling the start of their Golden Dinagsa Festival.

Dancers included government officials and employees, students (from elementary to college) from various schools, market vendors, and trike drivers, among other ordinary city dwellers.

“Seeing the throng of my fellow Cadiznons dancing to one beat/tune really melted my heart,” confessed the mayor.

“The message was clear – we’re united in Cadiz,” the mayor related.

The U-Dance was a first in Cadiz and for Dinagsa as well.

“The title per se,” the mayor enunciated, “candidly speaks of the essence of oneness for Cadiznons towards greatness.”

“The impact was superb. It spelled lots of positive meanings both for Cadiznons and Cadiz as a whole,” Escalante said.

“Great to see. Great to note. Great to promote,” he concluded.*
