UPV professor’s sculpture installation receives Bagong Biswal 2022 grant

Prof. Martin Genodepa, Director of the Office of Initiatives for Culture and the Arts of UP Visayas, is one of the grantees of the Bagong Biswal 2022 awarded by the National Commission on Culture and the Arts – National Committee on Visual Arts, for his sculpture installation of welded steel called Memorial Park: Missing the Crowd.

Memorial Park: Missing the Crowd, a doodle-like representation of a small mass or gathering, with figures closely huddled or in dynamic interaction, was first exhibited at the quadrangle of the UPV Main Building from February 15 through April 9, 2021. It was reinstalled in Megaworld’s Iloilo Business Park Square in front of the Iloilo Museum of Contemporary Art on July 15 to August 31, 2021.

The public art project was made possible by a UPV Creative Work Grant from the Office of the Vice Chancellor for Research and Extension.
