BACOLOD City – A kagawad (village council member) of Brgy. Nagbinlod in Sta. Catalina, Negros Oriental was killed by an unidentified suspect yesterday.

The killing of Feliciano Trosa, 56, happened a week after the chairman of Barangay Poblacion 1, Tinago, Dumaguete City was also gunned down by unidentified motorcycle-riding assailants on June 16.

According to Police Staff Sergeant Ian Boyet Nuique, assistant investigator of Sta. Catalina Municipal Police Station, Trosa was driving his motorcycle when the masked assailant emerged from an abandoned house and shot him with a pistol.

The victim fell on the road and the gunman allegedly shot him again.

Nuique said the gunman also threatened the witnesses before fleeing.

Trosa succumbed to seven gunshot wounds.

He said that Trosa was probably tailed by the perpetrator. “Inabangan kasi siya eh,” he added.

Police have yet to determine the motive, but they are initially looking into Trosa’s work as one of the angles.

He said they will also check if the barangay official had previous threats, adding that it was just Trosa’s first term as kagawad in the village.
