ROXAS CITY, Capiz – A barangay treasurer is in hot water for the “non-remittance” of the loan payments of four village kagawads or council members for almost a year.
Armiel Duron is the subject of the complaints of kagawads Reynaldo Bacelonia, Richard Dillo, Enrique Cabantug and a Sangguniang Kabataan chair of Barangay Liong, Roxas City.
The four are poised to file charges against the treasurer should he fail to settle the issue.
According to Bacelonia, Duron failed to remit their monthly amortization of P3,845 to a bank since August 1, 2021, with the loan supposed to have ended on October 20, 2022.
It was agreed that the amount will be deducted from their monthly honorarium.
But the four officials were dismayed after receiving demand letters from the bank urging them to pay their monthly dues.
The bank told the kagawads that they only paid three monthly dues since the release of their loans.
The kagawads have informed punong barangay Romeo Deloso of their problem and Duron was summoned to answer the accusations.
The treasurer admitted having not remitted the monthly dues as he used the amount for his personal problem.
The four had asked Duron to settle the problem or they will be constrained to file legal action should he fail to do so.
Doloso said he was confident that the treasurer remitted the money the reason why he did not ask for receipts.
