BACOLOD City – Police Colonel Romeo Baleros, director of Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office (Nocppo) will retire as he turns 56 in June 2020.
But the Police Regional Office (PRO)-6 has yet to discuss details of his replacement in the provincial police office, amid the global health crisis brought by the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).
Police Lieutenant Colonel Gilbert Gorero, acting spokesperson of PRO-6, told Daily Guardian that it is too early to talk about it since Baleros’s position has yet to be declared vacant.
“He’s still active,” Gorero said.
But as regards to the replacement procedures, Gorero said that the Philippine National Police (PNP) in Camp Crame will give a list of qualified applicants to PRO-6.
Police Brigadier General Rene Pamuspusan, PRO-6 director, will then make a recommendation to Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson based on the list submitted by Camp Crame to the regional level, he added.
From that list, the governor can choose the next provincial police director, he said.
However, the police regional director can assign an officer-in-charge if the governor has yet to choose from the list of applicants provided to him.
Baleros was assigned in the province in January 2019, replacing Police Colonel Rodolfo Castil Jr., who served the province for two years.
