Winning bets in Capiz proclaimed

Vice Gov. James “Mitang” Magbanua, Governor-elect Fredenil “Oto” Castro, and Rep. Emmanuel “Tawi” Billones

ROXAS CITY, Capiz – The Commission on Elections (Comelec) on Wednesday formally proclaimed the winners of the May 9, 2022 election in the province of Capiz.

Lawyer Salud Milagros Villanueva, Capiz Provincial Election Supervisor, proclaimed 2nd district Rep. Fredenil ‘Oto’ Castro of Lakas-CMD as governor-elect.

Castro defeated incumbent Gov. Esteban Evan “Nonoy” Contreras of PDP-Laban and independent bet Elmer Villasis.

Incumbent Vice Governor James “Mitang” Magbanua was also proclaimed after defeating former governor and challenger Victor Tanco Sr.

Also proclaimed were re-electionist 1st district Rep. Emmanuel “Tawi” Billones and former congresswoman Baby Jane Castro in the 2nd district.

Baby Jane is the wife of Fredenil.

Billones defeated Pontevedra Mayor Esteban Dodoy Contreras and retired provincial engineer Edgar Agana, while Jane Castro defeated Mambusao Mayor Leodegario Labao Jr. and provincial board member Eleuper Martinez.

Elected as provincial board members for the 1st district were Pepe Del Rosario, Sonny Besa, Gingging Almalbis, Thea Faith Reyes and Trina Marie Ignacio.

Nonoy Arevalo, Gilbert Ardivilla, Aldwin “Mr. Clean” Cruz-am, Inday San Felix and Celio Fecundo will represent the 2nd district.

The proclamation was held at the Governors’ Hall of the Provincial Capitol.
