A 60-year old woman was found dead morning of June 11 at a portion of the Iloilo River in Molo, Iloilo City.

The body of Marilou Gonzales, a resident of Jordan, Guimaras, was fished out the river near Barangay West Habog-Habog, Molo.

Resident Anabelle Buston said she was preparing her family’s breakfast when she saw the body floating face down. She immediately called her two sons to check.

Authorities were then called in.

Members of the Iloilo City Emergency Responders (ICER) said that there was no sign of life when they checked the body.

But Gonzales was still taken to The Medical City where she was declared dead on arrival.

Staff Sergeant Revel Louie Paciente, Iloilo City Police Station 4 investigator, said the victim had no superficial injury on her body.

“We found nothing that might indicate of foul play,” he said.

According to reports, the victim left Guimaras for Iloilo on Saturday.

She stayed at her daughter’s house in Barangay Salvacion Habog-Habog, Molo, in time for the fiesta on Monday.

On Sunday morning, they did not see her anymore.

They initially thought that she went for a morning walk until they heard report of a woman who was found dead at the nearby village.

According to her daughter Jenelyn Sianson, their mother was suffering from Alzheimer’s disease.

She also had a stroke.

Meanwhile, Paciente said that Gonzales’ body will be subjected for an autopsy to determine her cause of death.
