BACOLOD CITY – Police seized 59 grams of suspected shabu worth 401,200 pesos from a woman and her nephew during a buy-bust operation at Purok Lubi, Barangay 3, last Sunday.

Operatives from the Philippine National Police (PNP) Drug Enforcement Group (DEG) Special Operations Unit (SOU-6) arrested Annabelle Talaver, 53, and her 23-year-old nephew Ricardo Talaver, both residents of the village.

An operative of the PNP DEG-SOU-6, requesting anonymity, said the operation followed tips from the community about their alleged involvement in the illegal drug trade.

Authorities said the aunt was the main target of the operation, while her nephew allegedly conspired with her. Both are considered newly identified suspects.

Charges for the sale and illegal possession of dangerous drugs are being prepared against the two, who are currently detained at Police Station 2.

The operation was coordinated with Police Station 2, Regional Intelligence Unit (RIU-6), and the Integrity Monitoring Enforcement Group (IMEG) Visayas Field Unit.
