BACOLOD City – Ten Army reservists were sent to Kabankalan City, Negros Occidental last week to augment policemen and medical frontliners in the fight against the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).

Police Lieutenant Jomel Salarda, deputy police chief of Kabankalan City Police Station, said the local government unit requested for augmentation to support the city police force in the implementation of its COVID measures.

Salarda said these reservists were deployed in streets and other areas of convergence that are teeming with people.

Salarda said they will focus on reminding the public on the mandatory and proper wearing of face masks and the observance of social distancing.

“Panaway and at the same time gapangdakop man sila,” he added.

Salarda said they served as force multipliers who will temporarily stay in the city for 10 days.

He said the COVID situation in the city is manageable. But the deployment of the reservists will strengthen the implementation of the health protocols.
